How do I report a problem with access to an item in my Reading List?

If an item you are trying to access online via your module reading list within Canvas is not working, you can report it as a broken resource and the Library will investigate for you. Anything that has a 'View online' link can be reported.
On rare occasions you may come across items that have no availability at all - perhaps because our previous access has expired or the print copy book is no longer on the Library system. These can be reported as broken too.
Please note that this advice applies only to items being accessed through the reading lists that appear in your main Canvas module menus. If you are having a problem accessing something that appears elsewhere, for example on the Library catalogue, or if all the print copies of a book show as lost or missing, please contact the Library directly.
If something in your Reading List isn't available via the 'View online' link you can report it to the Library using the 'Mark as broken' option on the citation's full reading list record. Follow these steps:
- Click on the item in your list. You can click anywhere in the box except the 'View online' link.
- This will open up the full details screen. Anything listed in the "Links & Availability" section can be reported as broken via the ellipsis/three dots menu option to the right hand side. Click on the ... for the link that isn't working. In this example there is only one link to Kortext, but other items may have more than one link to try or there may be no link at all.
- This will open up a new menu. Select the 'Mark as broken' option.
- You will then be prompted to give more information about the problem you are experiencing by entering text into the box. It can be really helpful here if you copy and paste the text of any specific error messages you are seeing and upload a screenshot or any other files that might help us to diagnose the problem. In this example, the wording displayed on the screen when trying to open the Kortext book has been copied into the box.
- Click on 'Confirm' and an alert will be sent to the Library team for us to investigate.
- We will get back in touch with you once the issue is resolved, or to update you if the problem may take longer to sort out.
