Why have I received a recall notification regarding my books?

There are a number of reasons that your books may get recalled, these are:

The book is requested by another borrower

If another borrower requests an item, and we do not have any in stock, the longest loan will be recalled to allow the next borrower to get the item. You have until the specified date to return the item. After that, you will be charged £1 a day for any overdue item.

The book has been on your account for a year

If the item has been issued to you for more than a year, it will be automatically recalled. Subject to availability, you will be able to get the item re-issued, but it does need to be returned to us in the meantime.

There is over £25 in Library fines on your account

If you have had a few smaller late fees build up on your account, and the total is now over £25, any renewals will be blocked, until the balance is paid to below £25. This can be paid on the self service machines, or in your Library Account, if you are not on campus.

Your account has expired

If your account has expired, items will stop renewing. This normally happens shortly after graduation.

If any of the above are true, the books that cannot be renewed will need to be returned to the library as soon as possible.
