Academic staff - How do I access my Leganto reading lists for the new academic year?
Last Updated: 01.Aug.2025 Views: 163

Your Leganto reading lists will roll over each summer in line with the main eVision module update window. Your Liaison Librarian will notify you once the lists for the new academic year are available to be amended, and it is also worth keeping an eye on Staff News channels such as WLV Insider.

To access your lists, go to the website version of Leganto at www.wlv.ac.uk/leganto. All of the lists you are responsible for should show on your Leganto dashboard. The default arrangement should have the most recently updated lists towards the top, but if you need a different order it is possible to change this (see the section below).

Please note: we recommend that you use the web link above for initial editing during the summer, because the new lists can only show in Canvas once the Canvas module rollover has taken place.

How do I re-order the lists on my Leganto dashboard?

The lists on your Leganto dashboard default to show in 'Last updated' order but you can adjust this to be something more suitable for your needs.

Simply click on the Sort: Last updated text (immediately underneath the 'My lists' heading on the dashboard) and choose the order you would prefer.

For example, 'Date created (descending)' puts the newly created lists to the top, 'List title' groups lists from the same module together and 'Course year (descending)' will group all lists from the same academic year together:

Why are there so many lists on my dashboard?

Each year the library rolls over your lists to create a new copy ready for the next academic year. Now that the University has been using the Leganto reading lists system for a number of years, this can mean that academics have multiple iterations of lists on their dashboard from current and previous years.

The University has to keep older lists on file for quality and auditing purposes, and also in case students wish to go back and consult such lists from the time they were studying that module. These lists will show as being Locked on your dashboard and can no longer be edited. Please see the separate FAQ link if you have a query about a locked list.
