Academic staff - Why is my leganto reading list 'locked'?
Last Updated: 10.Aug.2022 Views: 90

Every year the Library rolls over all active reading lists into the next academic year. This creates a copy of the list as it was at that moment in time.

As part of the rollover we have to “lock” the previous years' list to prevent changes because those changes cannot then be reflected in the new rolled over versions.

I need to edit a list but its locked?

  • If your module runs all year, during Semester 3 or you'd just like to add more items to support summer re-sits, the Library can unlock the list for you upon request. Please email Leganto@wlv.ac.uk.
  • If you are trying to edit the list for the next academic year but it says it is 'Locked' please check the year of the list you are looking at - it may be an older version.
  • The easiest way to see your current lists is click into the top left corner hamburger icon (with the three lines) and choose 'Lists'.
  • Scroll down your list of lists or re-sort the order of them by "List Title" - you should be able to see more than one list with the same module code.
  • The academic year is shown in the list header so that you know which one is which.

  • For the best experience, use web leganto www.wlv.ac.uk/leganto rather than Canvas.
  • If you still cannot see the list you need, please contact Leganto@wlv.ac.uk asap.

When does rollover happen?

  • Usually during the month of May. The Library will let you know via Staff news items and emails from your Liaison Librarian.

The new list is showing as Draft status instead of Published, should I Publish it?

  • No, the Library will automatically Publish the lists nearer to the start of the new academic year.
  • The rolled over lists are always Draft status so that students cannot view them - this gives module leaders the opportunity to update them and for the Library to get resources in place.
