I've just collected a book I requested and immediately received an email that says I have to bring it back, why?

Even with our extensive stock of library books, there will be occasions when popular titles are in high demand and have a waiting list of other people needing to use the books too.

The library can only guarantee that you will be able to borrow an item for 8 days (15 days for students registered for 'extended loans' status). If the book you've collected has a waiting list, you will immediately receive an email to say it has been recalled and needs to be returned. This is because the library system automatically triggers the next request in the queue as soon as the book is loaned to your account.

Please return the book within the stated period to avoid being fined. If you still need the book, you can place another request and join the waiting list.
