How do I log in to RefWorks?
Last Updated: 30.Oct.2023 Views: 488

You need to create an account using your university e-mail address before you will be able to use RefWorks

As the information in RefWorks needs to be unique to you, the account is not set up automatically. It does not use the general Library authentication/login system so please ignore any links to 'login from your institution'.

  • Enter your University email address and follow the instructions on screen. You will need to have access to your Outlook emails [not the mailbox in Canvas as that is only for Canvas messages] to be able to validate the account and complete set up.

Further help and troubleshooting advice

  • The Skills for Learning study guides web page has a basic guide for using RefWorks. The RefWorks site itself also has a lot of very useful built-in help.
  • If you don't receive the verification email in good time, the message may have been caught by the University spam filter and you may need to contact Digital Services for help to release it. It may be possible for you to 'Preview' the quarantined email and copy the verification link across into your browser.
  • If you forget your login details, please use the 'Forgot your password' link on the RefWorks login page. Neither the Library nor Digital Services have access to your RefWorks details as the account is unique to you.
  • If you are prompted for a 'group code' when registering it means you are trying to access the old/Legacy version of RefWorks, which is being phased out. To register your account you will need to go instead to the Proquest RefWorks site as shown above.
