How do I log in to Cite Them Right?

The website version of Cite Them Right (CTR) is a resource the University Library provides access to. If you are using your own PC or device you will usually be prompted to login to the site before you can access the referencing information it contains.

  • Go to the Cite Them Right website
  • Click on the Log In box at the top right corner of the page image of log in button on CTR site
  • If you have already signed in to another University service such as Canvas or your University Outlook emails you will probably not be asked to login again. The CTR home page should appear with an 'Access Provided by University of Wolverhampton' message at the top, which shows you have successfully logged in.
  • If prompted, choose your referencing style. Or use the 'Browse Categories' menu to find your source type and then choose from the available style options. CTR supports multiple referencing styles and does not automatically know which one your individual course uses.

I'm seeing a login screen, what do I do?

  1. Click on the Login via your institution button - none of the other options on the page will work.

  1. You may be asked to find your institution from a list of all the places that use CTR. If you see the 'Find Your Organization' prompt, type Wolverhampton into the search box and then click on the University of Wolverhampton link that appears; if you have previously searched for the University you may see the link ready to click on under the 'Recently Chosen' heading.

Why is there a personal account login option?

As with many of our subject databases, CTR has an option for you to create a free personal account.

This account is separate to the University Library subscription so you have to register for it if you want to use it.

Once you have the account set up, you can save specific pages from the CTR site to a folder for easy access anytime you login.

To save a page, click on the star icon that appears on each webpage.

Please note: you may use a personal email to register for the account, but you will only have access to the University-subscribed content saved in your account for as long as you are a registered student with the University. Once your course ends your online resource access will also end. This means you will no longer be able to login to read the content of any saved CTR pages, even though your CTR personal account will still exist.
