I am writing my dissertation, are there any Library study skills sessions I can attend for this? Last Updated: 08.Jan.2024 Views: 204
The Skills for Learning team run a regular programme of sessions, some of which support those writing a dissertation for the first time.
'Starting your Literature Review' runs regularly and 'Thinking About Your Dissertation' is usually added to the schedule at certain times of year. You can see forthcoming dates for any student to book on our Skills Workshops Online webpage.
Please note these workshops are booked via Eventbrite, but are currently held online in Canvas. You need to access your University Outlook email account to see the email with the joining instructions, even if you used a personal email on Eventbrite.
In some cases Lecturers may arrange for a bespoke session for your entire class - keep an eye on your emails or Canvas for any details.
Short recordings covering 'Finding and using information' 'Planning' and 'Writing' your dissertation are available in the section "Thinking about your dissertation" within the Skills for Learning: Introduction to Academic Study Skills Canvas course.
If you are a Masters or Postgraduate student, the introductory sessions provided by the Skills for Learning team may not be suitable. Please contact them directly (skills@wlv.libanswers.com) to discuss your needs.
If you are a Research student, please check the 'Research Workshops' page in the 'Support for Researchers' section. If there are any sessions on academic writing for theses they will be advertised here.
