How to use the Bypass Tray on the Library Printers
Last Updated: 25.Oct.2022 Views: 415

We have many printers available throughout the study spaces in the Library, which by default, allows you to print out on A4/A3 white paper. However, there may be a need for you to print on a different type of paper. You can do this easily by using the 'Bypass Tray' on the side of the printer and by changing a few print options before you send the job to print.

Below are some step-by-step instructions for if you want to print out on non-standard paper in the library

  1. When ready to print your document, from the ‘Print’ Screen, ensure that ‘Follow You Student’ is set as the printer, then select ‘Printer Properties’.

  1. On the next screen, ensure that the ‘Input Tray’ is set to ‘Bypass Tray’

  1. Click ‘OK’, and then ‘Print’.
  2. The document will be sent to the printer.
  3. At the printer, before printing, release the ‘Bypass Tray’ from the right side.

  1. Put the specialist paper in the Bypass Tray. Unfortunately, thick paper and card is not suitable for these machines.

  1. Release the print job as you normally would.
  2. The document will be printed on your paper

You can use the Bypass Tray for printing on the following materials:

  • paper up to 250gsm
  • OHP transparencies
  • self-adhesive labels up to A4 size
  • envelopes up to A4 size (not heavy duty - regular weight only)
