There are various options available, depending on who you are and what you want to use the item for.

  1. If you would like to read a specific item the Library does not have and it is ONLY for your use, i.e. your assignment or research:
  • you may be able to request the item using the Inter-Library Loan (ILL) service
  • these items cannot be shared with anyone else
  • more information about the type of items you can request and the time frames involved are available in the linked FAQs below

  1. If you are a member of staff and would like the Library to buy a new book for your students to use via a reading list:
  • you need to add the book details to your Leganto reading list for the module and click “Send List”
  • if you have any questions or would like us to check on title availability before adding it to your list, please email Leganto@wlv.ac.uk
  • if you only want to add one chapter from a book to your reading list please see the linked FAQ for information about our digitisation service

  1. If you are a student, researcher or member of staff and would like to ask the Library to buy a book for our permanent collection and options 1. and 2. are not suitable:
  • please complete our 'Book Purchase Request Form' online - look for the link in the section headed 'Book Purchase Requests'
  • we will review your request and aim to get back to you within ten days
  • please consider if an Inter-Library Loan request will be suitable for your needs before making the request

  1. If you are a member of staff and would like the Library to consider a new subscription e.g. to a new database or Journal title:
  • we know that publishers often contact academics directly offering new resources
  • please contact your Liaison Librarian for advice - we can arrange trials, sort out authentication issues and help with evaluations
